We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Director of Tax to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in taxation, with expertise in international, federal and state tax regulations. This role requires someone who can manage a wide range of tax-related responsibilities, from quarterly federal estimates to overseeing complex merger and acquisition structures. The Director of Tax will work closely with outside tax advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations while implementing tax strategies to optimize the company's tax structure.  This position will be a hybrid role requiring a percentage of office-based time working from the Bettcher Industries' office in Birmingham, Ohio.


Responsibilities:



  1. Manage quarterly federal estimates: Coordinate and manage the preparation and filing of quarterly federal estimated tax payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  2. Assist outside tax advisors with US consolidated federal return preparation: Collaborate with external tax advisors to prepare and review the company's consolidated federal tax return, providing necessary documentation and support as required.

  3. Oversight of state tax filings: Supervise the preparation and filing of state tax returns, ensuring compliance with state tax laws and regulations in all jurisdictions where the company operates.  Coordinate state tax audits.

  4. Manage and assist in in the ASC740 accounting for income tax process.

  5. Liaise with outside tax advisors for merger and acquisition structures: Collaborate with external tax advisors to develop tax-efficient structures for mergers and acquisitions, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.

  6. Transfer pricing: Oversee the company's transfer pricing policies and documentation, ensuring compliance with transfer pricing regulations and guidelines.

  7. Repatriation strategies: Develop and implement tax-efficient repatriation strategies for foreign earnings and dividends, maximizing cash flow while minimizing tax liabilities.

  8. Stay current on tax laws and regulations: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations at the federal, state, and international levels, assessing the potential impact on the company and recommending appropriate actions.

  9. Provide tax planning and advisory support: Offer strategic tax planning and advisory support to senior management, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company's tax position.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or advanced degree in taxation preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 plus years of experience in tax accounting or related field, with a focus on corporate taxation.

  • Experience with tax planning, compliance, and reporting for mergers and acquisitions.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
