Job Purpose / Overview:


 


As the Commercial Director you will have responsibility for the development and implementation of commercial strategies in line with the organisation’s short, medium and long term goals and objectives. This is a significant leadership role, working alongside the Operating Board and supporting the Chief Executive Officer in the day- to-day leadership, strategic development, management and delivery of the organisation’s strategic vision and plans. You will be expected to add value to our growth activities by driving the commercial strategy, improving existing buying, ranging and sourcing arrangements  and keeping abreast of trends and market conditions to provide strategic advice.


 


Job Responsibilities:


 



  • Develop, manage, monitor and implement the group’s commercial strategy in line with organisational values, objectives and priorities.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to commercial activities.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)

  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, retail, customer service etc.)

  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders.

  • Develop and manage commercial agreements with suppliers, including pricing, supply and availability

  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for the Board.

  • Identify and assess new business opportunities to diversify the company's revenue streams and improve its market position.

  • Establish measurable performance metrics.

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of initiatives that improve supplier relations and loyalty.

  • Identifying consumer trends and patterns and proposing short/medium and long term strategies to stay ahead of the competition.

  • Analysing qualitative feedback to implement into the commercial strategy as well as using numbers and statistics to guide decisions as essential.


 


Required Qualifications & Experience:


 



  • Proven experience of providing strategic and technical leadership to large complex organisations

  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to develop and manage commercial agreements

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, brilliant at spotting external trends and awareness of developing commercially obtainable solutions.

  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to analyse market trends and data to develop effective commercial strategies.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, with the flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities.

  • Big picture thinking, truly innovative.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability articulate new approaches to a variety of different backgrounds and levels of seniority, cultures, and perspectives.

  • Ability to facilitate collaborative environment and manage differing motivations to steer to fruitful outcomes and solve complex issues.
